Nestlé’s Natural Refrigerant Conversion project included engineering, fabrication and installation of a 1,200 ton ammonia refrigeration skid used for process and convenience cooling. Corval was the Engineer-of-Record and General Contractor on the project, which included the design-build skid, distribution piping and process cooling equipment.
The system provides 2,800 GPM for a 1,200TR system expandable to 4,700 GPM with 1,800 TR. The total ammonia charge is 2,000 lbs.
The skid packages consisted of (2) 14’ wide x 14’ high x 60’ long modules, each weighing more than 100,000 lb. Field installation included setting of the modules using an eight-axle equipment transporter, as well as installation of field run piping, electrical, ventilation, structural steel and start-up.
