Hennepin Energy Recycling Center – Coil Replacement

Share Project:

Building on our relationship and experience with Hennepin County and Covanta, Corval was performed the removal and replacement of 20 dry coils housed inside of the HERC facilities Cooling Tower. Due to lack of control and harsh Minnesota winters, the existing coils have over time been rendered useless. These coils are instrumental in bitter cold temperatures to reduce or eliminate the large plume of “smoke” they create, which cause freezing of local roads and I-94, as well as negative comments from the community. The old coils were removed with coordination from Covanta to keep the tower operational yet safe while we did our work. Once removed, 20 new coils were set in place. Efforts from this project and our HERC Plume abatement project worked together to provide our customer with a properly functioning cooling tower.
